1. Get that there IS something called Awareness and that it takes time to get in touch with.

2. Starting reading spiritual books; but be careful of some of the self-help/pop psychology books.
Read the Celestine Prophecy, Mutant Message Down Under, The Book of Life, Ishmael; forget books by Tony Robbins, Laura Schlesinger, Beverly D’Angelo. John Gray and Terry Cole-Whittaker are optional. Careful of the guru/follower approach.

3. Get to know as MANY people as you can who ARE aware and have made the transition.

4. Get a coach (or teacher) who’s been there and is now very aware and has a life/lifestyle to match.

5. Simplify your life significantly. You can’t sense more things/become aware if you’re under pressure/busy.

6. Eliminate all excess stimulation. Drugs, stress, overeating, television, nicotine.

7. Get that, perhaps, you ARE clueless!

8. Start associating with others who seems to have this “awareness thing” and learn from them. They’ll teach you.

9. Begin to notice EVERYTHING — you, people around you, their reactions to you, life, ebb and flow. Everything.

10. Once you begin to notice, then begin to notice how YOU are affected by your environment/stimuli. This is key.

Watchfulness

Meditations are deeper. Oftentimes I am in a place which is so still that my next breath can snap me right back out. I meditate an hour each morning. Sometimes it will go slow and sometimes it will go fast. Then there are the times when there was NO sense of time. It did not go fast, it was just over. Those are profound experiences for me because it gives me a sense of just being or the experience of isness.

Witnessing is a little more evident. It seems to come in parts or segments. When I look at my arms they don’t seem to be mine but are operating independently of who I think I am. I can also be walking down the street and wonder who is doing the driving because I feel like I am a passenger. Actualy there is no I, there is just the experience of moving.

All of these experiences bring with them a sense of joy. Unfortunately, when I notice joy it goes away, probably because the I is back. I am hoping that as time goes on these experiences will continue and they will be accompanied by a sense of joy that does not go away. Only time will tell.

Obsession

I don’t know what is happening but most of the time now I think about awakening or enlightment or getting the understanding. I do have more knowledge though, feeling as if I understand what is supposed to happen. My experience has been that it far surpasses what I think it will be. I then get very frustrated in that I know where I am going now but it is at a snail’s pace.

I’ve taken up watching videos of people who have awakened. The best of the lot is Buddha at the Gas Pump. It is run by Rick Archer who I use to work for a long time ago. The second website is called Never Not Here. It is a little more intellectual, sometimes discussing the finer aspects of the mind but still worth the price (free). The third site I am about to start watching is called the Urban Guru Cafe. Rick recommended it and that’s good enough for me.

Watching these videos is awesome in the fact that these people are not saints or gurus, they are just like me. It gives me hope that I too will reach the goal. After reaching their goal they explain that their experience continues to expand and deepen, which sounds like a journey I want to take. I will continue to talk about these sites as I go forward because for right now it is where I get my inspiration.

Witnessing trouble

I have found this to be my experience sometimes…

Awakening to the Dream (Paperback)

by Leo Hartong

“Witnessing is not something we progress to. It is not about self-improvement or mental states. It is about recognizing that which is already fully present; this presence observes both the ‘I’ and its states while, at the same time, it remains unaffected. If we see this witnessing as a new way to make us feel good, we are back at square one. Instead of identifying with the conceptual ego, we have now identified with the conceptual witness – still an independent, identified entity, merely in different garb. From this more cushioned perspective, it’s easy to get trapped again in the same old illusion. As soon as the witness has become an object or concept, it becomes part of the witnessed. The real witness will never be an object of experience, but always remains that which is aware of the experience. Objectified, it becomes the ‘new ego’; non-objectified, it merges with Pure awareness – that which we so intimately are that we cannot get at it; like an arrow, able to point in all directions, but not at itself.”

I’ve been gone but I’ve not forgotten

I’ve been gone but I’ve not forgotten. I had wonderful holidays. I got sick. I worked. I lost income. I worried about the economy. I saw my family after three years. I enjoyed a beautiful snowstorm and was able to shovel snow. I read a lot, both fiction and spiritual. I read about other planets, beings and Universes. I read about nothingness. I breathed. I was happy, sad, ecstatic and depressed. I fear the coming future. I anxiously anticipate the coming future. I wonder why we have all this media depicting people with special abilities. I fear the unknown. I welcome the unknown. I missed you!

A protection Invocation

I am the Light
The Light is within me
The Light moves throughout me
The Light surrounds me
The Light protects me
I am the Light

I learned this a long time ago from Connie Newton. It is technique for protection and for calling light into your body. A story was told when I learned the technique about a man who was being held up. He started to repeat this invocation in a loud voice and the would be robber just turned and ran away. I use it often because when I say it energy starts flowing and that always feels good. It’s like a min- break, multiple times a day. Try it and if you don’t get any results or feelings keep at it. They will come.

Happy Halloween – Night of the Living Dead

Tonight is Halloween. I’m writing this between knocks on the door for candy. This holiday was supposed to honor the dead that have gone before us but does anyone really die? No. We just change energy forms. Many writers and teachers have talked about the the different bodies that we have and which ones stick around after we are gone. Some that are mentioned are physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, casual, etheric and more. I’m not going to go into each of them because there are better explanations out there than I could ever give. (If I find the book with the realy good explanations I will provide a link here.)

What I do want to talk about is what happens when we die… We just change forms. There have been over 14,000,000 cases of near death experiences and most of the people report very similar experiences. They go through a tunnel of light where they are met by a being of light who is brighter than the sun. The light doesn’t hurt the eyes and as they get closer they begin to feel an overwhelming sense of love and acceptance. People usually see the main figure from their religion waiting for them and they are welcomed with so much love that it is all they can do to experience just some of it. After a conversation of an indeterminate length they are shown by the being that behind them are all the person’s previously living relatives, friends and loved ones. The person now receive another overwhelming blast of love while they talk to everyone and it’s just about this time that when of the loved ones tells the person that they have to go back. There is a sense of anguish because the person has never known this much love and they don’t want to leave.

Once back in their body and healed enough from whatever trauma took them to near death, they begin to realize that they are no longer the same. Some report not being able to be around the same people anymore because they don’t have the same beliefs. Others report that their sense of identity is completely different and they struggle with what to do or be. Others completely change their life and start helping in some way because they say that chasing after money and things no longer has any meaning. No matter what there experience they all say this one thing. They are no longer afraid to die because no one dies!

Seeing Angels

I lived in somewhat of an ashram for a year and a half. It was somewhat because it was an old resort that actually held meditation classes for people around the world and I was on the maintenance staff. There were many times when the air was so lively and thick I felt I could literally swim in it if I moved my arms with a swimming stroke. The air had a celestial quality to the light, one that I can still see today. When I’m really happy I can see that everything is made of light. It is the kind of light that you see streaming through a window where, when it breaks up it becomes all the colors of the rainbow. It looks like light coming from a prism and it is alive.

One day we had some visitors from the main ashram. These people had been meditating for long periods of time almost all their life. They met with us to answer questions one day and that’s when I saw them. There were three 10-12 foot angels standing on the stage with them. They never moved or acknowledged anything. There were no distinct features other than they had a human form and were made of light. It was the same kind of streaming through the window, prism like light except that they all had different colors. Each being had prism-like light continually streaming through them except that each one’s shades of light were different, and their light kept changing and moving. They gave off such a sense of profoundness and caring that my eyes welled up with tears. I just sat through the brief meeting watching the angels and feeling overwhelmed and when it was over we were escorted from the room. That was one of the highest peak experiences of my life which happened over twenty years ago yet I still remember it like it was yesterday.

The end of meditation

I have been meditating for 32 years now. I have become happier, more positive and my reaction time is off the scale. Still, it has been a long time between really good spiritual experiences and sometimes it gets old. I therefore decided to try something new.

It is a program called Centerpointe which uses sounds and music to stretch your consciousness or your mind into new places that you have never been before. There are two dissimilar tones played into each ear. At first the mind can’t recognize any coherency. After a while your mind sorts it out, your brain waves become more coherent and you move on to the next step. These sounds are based on patterns collected from the brainwaves of very powerful meditators. Once your mind accepts one pattern you reach a plateau and then move to the next level. I was intrigued so I thought I would try it.

At first it was less than my meditating experiences. I reached a quiet depth but never went to the place of no thought that I had during meditation. Then today I went away. I was gone for about a half an hour and came back amazed. This was the exact experience I had when I began meditating long ago but which only lasted for a few minutes. Now I am having the same experiences after only a week that last a half an hour. I wasn’t expecting any results but I have read all the testimonials and now I might be a believer. Follow the link to see what others have said. I will keep you posted on what is happening with me over the next few months.

The View

I caught a glimpse of The View on tv yesterday and saw Whoopi Goldberg talking about how she was raised. It is very unusual that she became a performer because she cares so little about how others see her. She talked about how she was raised and credited her mother with the attitude she has today. She said that her mom use to tell her that she always needed to be happy with herself first. If she tried to make others happy it would always be a changing target, one that could never be satisfied. If she just tried to make herself happy she wouldn’t worry about what others thought and could remain happy with herself most of the time. She called it being selfish and I agree. I think we should all be just a little bit more selfish. Try making yourself happy for a little while and see what happens.
